A galaxy of stuff

The Star Wars exhibit was pretty darn cool. Lots of cool movie memorabilia on display. Perhaps the most interesting of which were these motion capture models. This Millennium Falcon is about four feet in diameter.

The Best Part Of Being In Disneyland

Doesn't matter what time of year we visit - I always love the flowers at Disneyland.

Favorite Ride.

Em and her cousin now share a favorite ride. The King Arthur Carousel was hot ride for these two who seemed to become good buddies by the end of the trip.

Character Dining

Emma met Pluto, Goofy, Donald, Pocahontas, Alice, Bert, a penguin and danced the macarena with goofy and donald too!

What a great dog!

I realized the other day that I hadn't announced that I have a new dog. I've had Cash for four months now, Hannah gave him to me as a surprise when some folks couldn't keep him. He's a great dog - hopefully you'll meet him sometime.

Now You're Famous!

This is Carlos. He's my custom omlet chef at Goofy's kitchen. He does such a good job I think I'm going to hire him to work at my house.

Are You Sure?

Man these rental car guys are sharp.

Devil Dinner

Beelzebub Burger? Satan Sandwich? Lucifer Lamb Chop? I don't consider the number a defacto satanic symbol (read your Revelations people) but this is one of those coincidences that you just need to share. Looking for more about 666? Here ya go:

Remodel this!

Laminate flooring is one of the great creations to come to the home improvement industry. We learned over the weekend it can also be a huge pain in the b***! Without a couple of good friends with some previous experience this job may have been enough to fry our brains. In the end the floor looked great and we were all gratefull for the support of some steadfast friends. Who's ready for cabinets?

I look like a pro!

I run my business based on the belief that low overhead and low prices are more important to the client than image. For this reason I have always cramed my equipment into the back of my car. After surgery that's no longer an option. Now I get to look as cool as I feel and I thought I looked cool enough to take a picture of my new rig on it's first assignment. Let's take a moment to pause in awe.

Rock & Roll is here to stay

Rock & Roll will never die - at least as long as my munchkin thinks the "guitar store" is one of the coolest places in the world that is. Pink girl rock is the only way to go for her - unless it's the $800 blue carbon fiber model. Hmm. If she keeps up these expensive tastes it might be time for a new hobby.

The Voice Of The Road

In my first years as a licensed driver I often wished I could mount one of those scrolling marquee's to the front and back of my car and exclaim to other drivers just what I thought about their motor vehicle operating skills. Years later I bought my Jeep Wrangler, took the top off and started verbalising my vitriol when I learned quickly that letting other drivers hear what you think is seldom a good thing. Then a few months ago I was introduced to PlateWire.com:
PlateWire is a public repository and electronic forum of drivers by drivers. Using a drivers license plate, commuters can communicate their thoughts and feelings in regards to driving on today's roadways.
Put simply, you punch in a license plate number and attach a comment. Anonymous postings are required and not every report needs to be about road rage. You can also point out a courteous driver, flirt with the cutie in that VW you followed though traffic yesterday or warn the guy in the econoline his right rear tire is about to fall off.

I check my license plate number on platewire every so often to see if someone thinks I've been a jerk driver or if my muffler has been dragging behing me. I wish everyone would check the database now and then because I think that if people didn't feel so isolated and anonymous in their vehicles, they'd be more likely to interact on the roads the way people do when face to face - just as I did when I started driving my Jeep with the top down.

Check out the two most recent posts from my home state about random drivers:

As a fellow University of Utah alum, I noticed your license plate border. Very snazzy. Sorry if I came too close behind you (I didn't think I was that close). You waved me around you, then gave me a look that said I was obviously missing half of my brain. Maybe I am; I don't get it. You confused me.
Sorry if I came too close, but I don't think I deserved your incredulous look.

It's My Lucky Day!

The day was pretty good. I was back in the DJ Chair for the first time since my surgery, I was having dinner with some good friends and I had ordered a personal favorite to eat. Then my day kicked into high gear. Without knowing it I had ordered the manager's special for the day! My dinner cost me a whopping $5 - Woo Hoo! It was one of those meals that made me love the old fashioned restaurant/diner that is increasingly sparse on the landscape of today's eateries. I'll take the less fancy to get the good price, I can't find an appetizer for $5 at ZTejas. If you're in Utah, drop by a Dee's restaurant for that old fashioned food service I love so much, and if you're in California, try Spire's Restaurants for similar flavor.
