The Transcontinental Railroad

En route to the Sprial Jetty is the Golden Spike National Monument. This monument marks the spot where a gold rail road spike was driven to merge the east and west legs of the trascontinental rail road. This picture is merely a sign outside the visitors center where the locomotives from yesteryear stand astride the spike.
