Winter Sport

A winter weekend on the north slope of the Unitah mountains was just what we needed to brighten up these short days. The cabin we were invited to stay at was extreamly comfortable with all modern conveinences (like dishwashers and lay-z-boys) and the food was fabulous.

We took advantage of some some groomed "roads" around the cabin and enjoyed a bit of sledding on two different days. We feel very honored to have been included in these fun President's Day Weekend plans.

Glad I'm Not Driving

Just as I was thanking my lucky stars that I wasn't in New York over the weekend, Salt Lake is hit with a slice of winter trauma all it's own. Snow accumulated to as much as six inches over black ice on the roads today and caused a number of remarkably large accidents
We're told about 45 cars were involved in accidents, most of them in pileups. I-15 northbound had to be closed from Parish Lane through Farmington.

from a KSL report

That multi car wreck happened at a freeway on ramp in my home town. It closed the freeway and the bottleneck nature of roads through this part of the county send bumper crops of cars along our relatively tiny main streets. I was dreading the drive to school, but left plenty early and started forging my way with the traffic. I stopped to grab a bite to eat and got the call that class had been canceled. Woo Hoo! Hate to take on the extra work, but glad I don't need to keep driving.

As I sat in the parking lot with my sandwich, a wrecker passed me hauling this smashed semi. I met it on the opposite side of the parking lot and snapped this picture with my phone. I assume it was involved in the wreck mentioned above becasue this truck passed me mere minutes after hearing on the radio that I-15 had reopened near my home town. I paused to consider the mangled mess of steel before me and thought "Yep. Glad I'm not driving tonight."

Even the beer commercials were weak

I would not even rate this years commercials lukewarm as Bruce Lindsay reports the advertisers feel at the Ad Bowl event in this article. I found Budweiser's commercials to be the most entertaining, funny, and witty and even those seemed to be less so than past years.

I was disappointed to see rehashes of last years commercials and missed seeing many of the "inspiring" commercials (Dove's campaign was admirable but the commercial not inspiring) that seem to have their genesis at this time of year. Everything else was barely worthy of a Friends third season premiere re-run.

The Snow Cone Bombers Strike Again

We bring you this exclusive footage of the Snow Cone Bombers striking another property. Surely these victims must be held in high esteem by the bombers as they are seldomly led into more than one hit in a single night!

Snow Cone Bomb

The Snow Cone Bombers - Purveyors of mayhem

A mysterious mishap occoured in a front yard of a certain someones. A Snow Cone Exploded in the little remaining snow on the property. Incredibly it gave off the impression of a Volcano. There was a cardboard sign placed nearby warning of a Snow Cone Bomb. On the reverse was a hobo sign advertising work for booze (or food.) Apparently the bombers wanted the sign to be of use if someone other than the intended target were to stumble upon the sign. We secured this amature video as proof of the event.

The Snow Cone Bombers - Surveying the damage

Incredibly The Snow Cone Bombers return to observe the carnage.

The Lost Emma Video

This was a funnly little video I took with my dad's camera during our trip to Disneyland in June last year. I had forgotten about it till he churned it up amongst his files. Now we can share it with the world.
