So I'm watching The History Channel, and learn that for the price of a Lexus, I can have my very own Helicopter. It's a kit from a company in AZ that will also teach you how to fly your new aircraft.

So if you're looking for a good Fathers Day gift...

Wacky Patent of the Month (June. 2004): U.S. Trademark 0313765

I am watching one of my favorite programs, Modern Marvels on The History Channel. In todays program, gadgets old and new are noted. One expert talked to is Mr.Colitz, a patent attorney in D.C. He hosts the above mentioned website where once a month he highlights a wacky patent. Upon pursuing the website, I was thrilled to see the patent of the month was that of Walt Disney's Original TradeMark registration for Mickey Mouse. Check out the link, it's quite fascinating.

Air Show Euphoria

I've found a rekindling of a childhood love for planes since my wife started her new postion a few years ago.  I find myself identifing planes, collecting models, and tirelessly watching websites and reading books.  I've become fascinated to say the leat.  Today my fascincation got a shot in arm as we attended the Air Show at Hill AFB.  I've always shyed from the show becasue of the crowds, but I found the experience to be completely worthwhile.  I was amazed by the prowess of the show openeing F-16 acrobatics and seeing a C-5 and A-10 in flight, up close.  I saw a P-51 IN FLIGHT anlong with a corsair, a Zero and several other WWII era military planes.

Of course the highlight of the show was the Air Force Thunderbirds Eliete Flight Squadron.  I remember seeing them fly over my home as a 10 year old and being mesmerized by thier speed and agility.  Today I watched them fly by a mere 300 feet overhead as they passed the south end of the runway where we were perched.  They were only 200 yards away as they touched down from the south at the end of the show.  We waited through a one and one half delay to see the Thunderbirds and almost gave up.  Before we could get away four F-16's thundered down the runway and they never ceased to amaze.

Check out the web page to see some great photos of the Thunderbirds, C-5, and my favorite, the Mustang.

Well, we've had quite a day. Hannah shopped all day with Jen, Doug got in a geocache, Jen made fabulouse pizza (as always) for dinner and we caught a movie in the private theater. It was so much fun to watch Raiders of The Lost Ark on the big screen. It was such a plesant night and the setup/removal of all the stuff didn't seem nearly as hard as it had in the past. Having all my friends/family there was great too. Alex was a ton of fun, I hope he got a real kick out of watching StongBad on the big screen (note to self: look into HomestarRunner hoodie).
