While preparing to fly back to Houston from Killeen (GRK) we learned that Air Force One was parked on the tarmack on the Fort Hood side of the Airport. I was escorted out on the ramp so I could take a few pictures. (You'll see them soon.)
You may have noticed on the news that President Bush is at his ranch in Crawford (TX) preparing for the upcoming debates. Waco (TX) is the closest airstrip to Crawford and serves as the access point for The President. Here's the twist and how I fit in: This is the first trip to Crawford The President has taken since the opening of the new airport in Killeen. That new airport boasts a runway far larger than the old one, and is actually on U.S. Gov. property. In other words, this new super long runway is actually within Ft. Hood boundries. Because of this new access to a militray base so close to Crawford, the 747 that serves as Air Force One was ferried over for parking after dropping off President Bush. So I got to take a few pictures, and you are the benefactors (don't you feel special?)
