GIRL SCOUT COOKIES
2012
It's once again time to help Emma sell tons and tons of Girl Scout Cookies.  Emma, Mom and myself would each very much appreciate your support of Emma and her troop.  I've been very impressed with the way the Girl Scouts operate the cookie program.  The vast majority of the proceeds stay with the individual girl and their troop.  Very little is kept at the council and even less at the national level.  We appreciate you joining us in enjoying some sweet cookies for a sweet girl with a sweet cause!

Order Up
--------------------------------------
Emma tracks all her cookie orders on a central form.  Get in touch with us through your choice of methods and we will jot down your order.  In most cases we will ask you for your phone number or E-mail, a delivery address and which cookies and quantities you would like.  Here's how to get in touch with us:

Voice or Text: 1-801-769-6836

The Basics
---------------------------------------
Each box of cookies is $3.50 for all varieties.  We collect no money until the cookies are delivered (usually around the first week of march.)  We accept payment in cash, checks or most credit and debit cards.  (Card transactions incur a 2.75% fee.)

Varieties
---------------------------------------
We have a new cookie available this year, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting.  Savannah Smiles are bite sized lemon wedges coated with powdered sugar (super tasty, nice and zesty.)

All your favorites return this year:
  • Thin Mints - Chocolate coated chocolate-mint cookies
  • Samoas - A ring of caramel and coconut on a crisp cookie striped with chocolate (Mom's Favorite!)
  • Do-Si-Dos - Peanut butter sandwich cookies (Dad's Favorite!)
  • Dulche De Leche - Milk caramel chip cookies
  • Tagalongs - Creamy peanut butter filling coated with chocolate.
  • Trefoils - The original Girl Scout Cookie!  Delicious and simple shortbread. (Emma's Favorite)

Community Minded
--------------------------------------
Please purchase boxes for donation.

If you don't want cookies for your self or if you want to join us in being a positive force in our community, consider donating some boxes of cookies.  You can elect donate boxes to a local charity when you place your order.  This year we are supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Salt Lake City chapter and we are looking into sending boxes of cookies to another group as well.

In past years we have collected boxes of cookies for U.S. military personnel overseas, the Salt Lake Ronald McDonald house, the Spectrum Academy school for autistic students, and the Safe Harbor women's shelter.  Each organization has been extremely grateful and in some cases, the girls have had the rewarding experience of visiting these groups and seeing what their contributions have accomplished.

Cookie Booths
--------------------------------------
Over the last two weeks in January Emma and other Girl Scouts give you the chance to pre-order your favorite cookies.  This way, you are guaranteed to get the varieties you want in the quantities you need (and Emma gets credit for the cookies.)  Besides pre-orders, each year our troop sells cookies ad-hoc in booths in parking lots and at road side in order to market cookies to anyone who individual girls may not have reached (you can only do so much door-to-door.)

Troops anticipate the demand and available time, then pay for the cookies themselves and work hard to sell their stock.  Naturally, varieties and quantities fluctuate wildly. Your favorite cookies may be unavailable. You will usually see cookie booths over the weekends through March, but we can't recommend highly enough you pre-order with Emma to be sure you get the cookies you want and so Emma can get credit for selling the cookies directly.
