Me: Yes, yes it is [chuckle.]
Emma: You should buy some talk dad cause it's cheap.
Me: I should huh? [More chuckles.]
Emma: Cause you're cheap too - right dad?
Me: Um, yes. Thanks Emma.
Emma: You're welcome daddy.

I Told You I Wasn't A Dork!

My last post opened some dialog regarding my reference to Geeks, Dorks and Nerds.  Some considered the multiple terms redundant.  I however see clear definitions.  I'm not sure I fall into any of these categories.  If I must be in a category, I would say I am a geek, however I think I lack the obsession over most "geeky" things.  Some would argue I lack the other critical requirement of geekyness, but that's another blog post.

What A (Geeky) Day!

Oh man, I can feel the cumulative shudder of millions of geeks, dweebs and nerds the world over as they learn that today marks the crossroads of two monumentally influential franchises of the last century. On this day 30 years ago The Empire Strikes Back opened in Hollywood, CA and one short day after that, Namco released Pac Man in Japan.

This day should be a national holiday for crying out loud! Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite Star Wars film and - IMHO - the best film in the series. Pac Man, is dear to the heart of gamers and techies everywhere. While I've never fawned over it (I have always struggled to stay ahead of those ghosts) I have never passed up an oppotunity to play a few levels and I have gameing devices strewn about my house which play another copy of Pac Man.

So have a slice of pizza (from Domino's perhaps?) and bask in the impetus of the gaming revolution while marveling at the moment the world was shocked intergalactic awe.

Dots Up And Running

My first new cache in years: "Dots" is now up and active. I've wanted to place a cache near my work for ages, but until recently there was another cache literally in our back yard that prevented me from placing another nearby. Mothers Day

Mothers Day was a bit unusual for us. Mom had a wild hair and decided to try something new last week when @dimplsandcurls (otherwise known as my wife) hid her first geocache and did an outstanding job of it too. With what seemed like a fraction of the effort it takes me, Hannah had picked a spot void of caches, created a container, outfited the cache with prizes and was ready to go. She even logged a variety of waypoints with which to average out the coordinates. A short time later she had submitted and had her cache listing approved. The FTF (First To Find) was logged before Mother's Day was out.

I'm not sure it's fair for Dad to have as much fun as mom on Mother's Day, but these things happen when you go geocaching. Perhaps you'd care to visit Hannah's very own "Carrington Cache." The Family Jewel

It was family picture day or as I have come to see it: Show Emma off day. Seriously, I'm not making these photos works of art - Emma is the pinch hitter in the batting order of beauty; The ringer in the competition of cuteness. Emma makes me look good - er.

But really that's the idea isn't it? I haven't changed much over the years, my friends aren't asking me to keep them up to date. We want to see how Emma has grown, and remember how adorable she was on that day in May back in ought-ten. And that's exactly what we did.
